The West Island
The West Island is a collection of cities, boroughs and towns, that comprise the western third of the Island of Montreal. With a population of over 230,000 people, the majority of the residents of the West Island are bilingual. The West Island is a diverse and multicultural region. It has a certain quality to it compared to the rest of the city of Montreal. Its land is packed with parks, lakes, rivers, cycling trails, golf courses, and cross-country ski trails. A lot of the region’s oldest buildings date back to Nouvelle-France and add an unmistakable value and character to the West Island’s communities.
